Permit Information
The World Cup One-Day Permit allows event organizers to host off-site activations, such as fan festivals, events with multiple vendors and large viewing events, throughout the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bars and restaurants can also apply for the World Cup One-Day Permit to extend service into contiguous unlicensed outdoor areas for World Cup events.
Businesses, organizations or individuals can apply for this permit to host a World Cup watch party.
Event organizers and licensees may use the State Liquor Authority’s existing One-Day Alcohol Event Permit process to apply for the World Cup One-Day Permit.
To streamline the process, applicants may request up to 12 one-day permits within a single application. Organizers hosting more than 12 events may submit multiple applications, each including up to 12 one-day permit requests.
Once the application is submitted, please email [email protected] with the subject line “ATTN Permits Supervisor” and the application number.
What Do I Need To Apply?
The applicant must submit the following documents with the application request:
- The applicant will be required to notify their Municipality/Community Board and police jurisdiction of their intent to apply for the events. The applicant must submit a copy of this notice form along with proof both the municipality and police jurisdiction have been notified.
- If the events are occurring on the street or other public space, the applicant must obtain approval from the municipality, provide written local authorization, and a waiver of the Open Container law where applicable.
- For locations in New York City, including all 5 Boroughs of New York, applicants will need to contact the NYC Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) for information regarding events held on municipal property. For events that qualify, a SAPO permit will be required instead of a waiver of the Open Container Law.
- A detailed diagram that shows a contained area of alcohol service and consumption, restrooms for customer use, entrances and exits, and the point of sale. Please note a fee is required for each point of sale.
- A comprehensive security plan that addresses crowd control, prevention of sales to anyone under the age of 21, and prevention of sales to anyone who appears to be intoxicated.
The Permitting Process
If there are multiple licensees acting as vendors for a single FIFA World Cup 2026 event, then each licensee must obtain their own permit, serve alcohol from their own clearly defined area, or use cups that are traceable to each specific vendor, meaning logo cups, different color cups or specific stickers, and operate pursuant to a shared security plan.
A single One-Day Alcohol Event Permit will be issued per applicant for a multi-day FIFA World Cup 2026 event. The total fee is $36.00 per day, per point of sale for the duration of the event.
Applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the event, or 15 days prior to the first event if applying for multiple permits at once. However, the SLA strongly encourages applicants to apply at least 30 days in advance to ensure timely review and approval.
The Authority reserves the right to deny an application if it is determined that use of the permit is being used as an attempt to circumvent the law and the need to have the location licensed. The Authority reserves the right to conduct on-site visits and investigate any complaints in connection with the issuance of the permit and retains the ability to rescind the permit at any time if it finds any violations of the ABCL or the Rules of the Authority.
