State Liquor Authority Underage Drinking Detail Nets Four Sales To Minors In Rensselaer County
SLA Continuing Efforts to Combat Underage Drinking
The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) today announced the results of an underage sting operation conducted on January 31, 2019 in Rensselaer County. SLA investigators, working with underage agents, conducted an underage-drinking sting operation visiting fifteen businesses. In total, the undercover minor was able to purchase alcohol at four of the fifteen businesses visited.


The businesses selling to minors were:


• Lucky Quick Mart
558 Hoosick Street, Troy


• Cumberland Farms
625 Pawling Avenue, Troy


• Hoosac Package
53 Classic Street, Hoosick Falls


• Unihog BBQ
2 Center Street, Hoosick Falls


The businesses refusing to sell to minors were:


• Valley Mart
560 Hoosick Street, Troy


• Cumberland Farms
25 Church Street, Hoosick Falls


• Mikey Mart
4744 State Route 7, Hoosick Falls


• Stewart’s Shop #219
2 River Street, Hoosick Falls


• Rite Aid Pharmacy
22 Main Street, Hoosick Falls


• Titanic Market
107 5th Avenue, Troy


• Stewart’s Shop #456
50 North Greenbush Road, Troy


• Cumberland Farms
505 Campbell Avenue, Troy


• Cumberland Farms
630 Hoosick Road, Troy

447 North Greenbush Road, Rensselaer


Licensees charged with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, with fines starting at $2,500 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders also face possible suspension or revocation of their licenses. In addition, employees or licensees who sell to minors can be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. Undercover decoys work under the direct supervision of SLA Beverage Control Investigators.
