STATE LIQUOR AUTHORITY Underage Drinking Detail Nets Two Sales To Minors In Montgomery County
SLA Partners with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to Combat Underage Drinking
The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) today announced the results of an underage sting operation conducted on December 6, 2018 in Montgomery County. The SLA, working with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an underage-drinking sting operation visiting nine different businesses. In total, the undercover minor was able to purchase alcohol at two of the nine businesses visited.
The businesses selling to minors were:
1 East Main Street, Nelliston
18 East Main Street, St. Johnsville
The businesses refusing to sell to minors were:
39 Riverside Drive, Fultonville
116 West Main Street, Canajoharie
40 West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge
12 Park Place, St. Johnsville
17 West Main Street, St. Johnsville
159 Erie Boulevard, Canajoharie
192 Erie Boulevard, Canajoharie
Licensees charged with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, with fines starting at $2,500 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders also face possible suspension or revocation of their licenses. In addition, employees or licensees who sell to minors can be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. Undercover decoys work under the direct supervision of SLA Beverage Control Investigators.
