SLA Extends Renewal Payments for Businesses Impacted by the Novel Coronavirus

The State Liquor Authority (SLA) today announced payment of renewal fees will be deferred until November 30th for bars, restaurants and manufacturers. The extension, implemented to help reduce the COVID-19 pandemic-created economic pressure faced by New York’s hospitality industry, was approved unanimously at a meeting of the SLA Full Board on August 19, 2020.  
 
Under the extension, on-premises licensees, wholesalers, and manufacturers with licenses expiring between March 31, 2020 and November 30, 2020 may defer the submission of renewal payments until December 31, 2020.  Licensees are still required to file complete their applications prior to their expiration date, despite not having to submit a renewal payment.
 
"Since day one, we have worked to help bars and restaurants weather the economic impact of this global pandemic,” said SLA Chairman Vincent Bradley.  “We understand the difficulties these businesses are facing and will provide support as the state's economy continues to reopen."  
 
Other businesses with licenses expiring on August 31, 2020, including liquor stores, grocery stores and pharmacies, may request a deferral of renewal fees provided they can demonstrate a financial hardship that resulted from the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The New York State Liquor Authority regulates and controls the manufacture, sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages within the State. The Authority works with local law enforcement agencies and localities across the State to ensure compliance with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law.
